Who’s up for a weekend trip? I’d love to road trip down to the Carolinas or finally make it to Philly for even just a day trip. Pack up your car, buy a train/plane ticket and get out of town for some breathing room when you need it and don’t have any PTO. If you pack light, all you need is one of these weekenders and you don’t even have to check anything in [who likes to do that anyway?].
Grab a friend and one of these beauts and hit the road:
1 / Baggu duffel bag in chestnut
2 / cuyana canvas and leather overnight bag
3 / Everlane reverse denim weekender
4 / Muji water repellant polyester bag
5 / Herschel Supply Co. packable duffel bag
6 / Kate Spade Saturday weekender in steel blue signature zig zag
Back to the reality of this weather. Here are some things that have been helping me survive this indecisive season. What are some winter essentials you keep with you?
1 / Harney and Sons Paris Tea is my personal favorite.
2 / C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Soap Free Cleanser is a little saving grace to have in my bathroom mirror.
3 / This Bulleit Bourbon is great for making hot toddies on blistering cold nights.
4 / Candles. The more the merrier. These Sydney Hale Co. candles are made in small batches right in Virginia and smell absolutely divine. I love that they come in different packaging depending on the scent.
5 / These Nap socks from Brookstone are a definite must-have. I wear ‘em in my boots and around the house.
6 / My newest discovery is the Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm that I’ve decided will be forever stocked in my purse.
I promise after this I’ll try to stop talking about the weather. It really is the most ridiculous winter of my life.
I hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend for Valentine’s and President’s Day! I was on quite the journey if you couldn’t tell from my Instagrams lately – lots of fun [and great food!] with a handful of my favorite people. But hey, I’m back in DC and bringing you a few things with a pinch of pink.

I’ve been obsessed with this grey velvet ribbon (2) lately and so I decided I’d pick a few classic + luxe splurge pieces to share. A great match to the velvet ribbon is the alpaca infinity scarf (3) from Cuyana, which comes in 3 other colors and is made in Peru. These Manolo Blahnik patent leather pumps (1) are a perfect 4″ high. So classy, so clean. And for a more unexpected Céline bag, I love this grey baby calfskin Blade handbag (4).
My group of best girl friends is kind of obnoxious [I mean, what do you expect? There are 11 of us...eleven]. I’ve known a few of the girls for at least 15 years and some of my earliest memories include sleepovers with 3 of us sharing a twin size bed. We were tiny! Okay, so maybe I haven’t grown much since then, but I definitely cherish those memories and we still cuddle up on a bed exchanging stories and such even now [but with upgraded bed sizes, of course].
I’m sure you’ve noticed all the big pink and red hearts everywhere. It’s that time of year for Valentine’s, but what happened to giving out cards to all your friends – not just someone of the opposite sex? I’d totally send one to each of my girl friends cause their love has definitely stood the test of time through all of life’s changes. Here are a few that would be perfect for my girls:

Happy Valentine’s to my Best Gal by The Social Type / Copper Foil Heart on Kraft by Bespoke Letterpress

Oh, here come the Valentine’s posts. Since thinking in song comes second nature to me, I thought I’d start off with a little visual playlist with a few tunes I love. Take a listen on Spotify!
