cherry blossom inspiration

for those of us in the DC area, we share a common sentiment towards the cherry blossom – love + hate. they’re beautiful to look at and stroll through, but man do they bring on the allergies. i have yet to go see them this year in all their glory, but it is quite a sight. i’d love to make some of this cherry blossom tea and walk about the city in that madewell dress [similar] before they all disappear. i’m quite glad it’s cooled down over here because despite the allergies, i really do like spring.

ampersand | summer is calling / petitely

i’m not sure how the weather’s been in your part of the world, but it suddenly turned a summer kind of warm here in the DC area. where did spring go?! i feel like pulling out the shorts already, but it seems so soon. only in texas did i ever experience such a thing!

in any case, i hope it cools down again soon but the weather man doesn’t seem to be bringing me any good news of that. better embrace it! yesterday i was reminded that while i love the sun’s natural vitamin d, i need to drink more water, eat more fruit and indulge in ice cream more than usual. (;

here’s some inspiration on what i’m looking forward to on the summer months, though i definitely prefer peaches to apricots. what about you?

after going to the baggu store in brooklyn last week, i’ve been obsessed with cute little backpacks [my eye's on this one]. not really sure why, but i’m more of a tote girl. anyhow, when you’re traveling around the city or are planning to do a little shopping, a backpack isn’t such a bad idea.

i snagged an instagram pic of these lovely leather baggu bags which i’m also eyeing…

over the past year, chambray has been a fabric i’ve grown to love. it comes in all sorts of washes, though this one by cloth & stone is one of my favorites that i wear all the time [exhibit a: my profile pic]. with spring approaching [oh please, come sooner!], this is a great piece for layering when it’s cold or wearing solo when the sun’s shining bright. here’s how to wear it for both guys & girls!

the weather here has been so bipolar, but i’m hoping that spring is right around the corner! heads up – stripes are still in this year [and hopefully forever! it's really such a classic]. here’s a “his & hers” pairing today of how to wear navy and white stripes.

notes for him: i’m loving the colored pant for guys right now. grab a brown leather jacket or a nice jean one for the colder nights.
notes for her: dress this look down with a pair of jeweled brown sandals [like these from BHLDN], a set of gold bangles, and lose the blazer.
